In addition to fundamental academic skills, The Young School also offers its students:

• Specific courses in physical, biological, and ecological sciences
• Foreign language classes in Spanish or French, beginning in first grade
• Music instruction – singing, dancing, playing Orff orchestra instruments, and reading music, as well as music appreciation
• Art classes, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and art appreciation
• Physical education
• Exposure to the importance of agriculture to California, sustainability
• Frequent field trips to museums, science exhibitions, and parks to reinforce our cultural and community outreach goals
• Comprehensive testing to determine what the children need to learn
